THE STORY
In the southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, local ministers and church planters have faithfully served their communities for decades, meeting critical needs while planting churches that carry the hope of the gospel. In recent years, heightened oversight of non-dominant religious groups, increased restrictions, and a growing atmosphere of distrust have made that work significantly harder. Creative approaches to meeting community needs have become more essential than ever.
Among the greatest unmet needs are basic healthcare services, particularly vision and dental care. In 2011, a small team of Americans began partnering with local Indian believers to bring mobile medical clinics directly into remote villages where pastors were already serving or working to build trust. Volunteers from wide-ranging backgrounds joined alongside professional physicians from both the United States and India, bringing compassionate care to communities with significant needs. The work began years ago and continues today.
the impact
Over the past two decades, hundreds of thousands of villagers have gained access to primary medical, dental, and vision care, including thousands of cataract surgeries that restored functional sight to people who live and work outdoors. Consistent with Healthbridge’s values, this work has always been a true partnership: American and Indian physicians serving side by side, U.S. companies donating equipment, and local doctors providing ongoing follow-up care. The trust built through these clinics has given local pastors a lasting presence in remote villages. Healthcare has become a bridge for the gospel in an increasingly closed culture. Through this work, closed hearts are opened.
Clinica ProVita

THE STORY
When Jon and Becca Hallsted first arrived in Romania in the early 2000’s, they quickly saw two critical healthcare issues: broken maternity care and an abortion epidemic. They soon met Dr. David Ille, a Romanian pediatrician leading ProVita, a ministry serving women through counseling, ultrasounds, post-abortion care, education, and broader women’s health services. ProVita had a larger vision for the future, but it first needed a stronger foundation. The ministry needed its own facility, greater financial stability, and more space to serve women well.
Healthbridge Global partnered with ProVita to purchase and renovate a new facility in a busy part of Cluj-Napoca. The project transformed an unfinished building into a healthcare center that expanded services, increased staff capacity, and removed the burden of monthly rent. Completed in 2013, ProVita became the first project of Healthbridge Global and shaped the values that continue to guide the organization today.
THE IMPACT
The new facility changed the trajectory of ProVita's work. Long-term sustainability was strengthened and more women were served with dignity and the hope of the gospel. This new clinic freed the ministry from monthly rent and created the financial stability needed to grow and dream bigger. That dream is now taking shape as LIFE Medical Center, a comprehensive maternity hospital that Healthbridge is currently raising funds to build in partnership with Clinica ProVita. This project didn't just expand a clinic. It laid the foundation for everything that followed.
Harpur Memorial Hospital

THE STORY
In and around Menouf, in Lower Egypt, there were no dedicated spaces for pediatric care. Children were treated alongside adults in crowded facilities not designed for them, making care harder, less safe, and less dignified for young patients and the families who brought them in for treatment. When local hospital leadership identified pediatric services as one of their greatest needs, Healthbridge Global came alongside Harpur Memorial Hospital to help.
Together, we built the hospital's first dedicated pediatric inpatient and outpatient units: safe, welcoming spaces designed specifically for children and the families who care for them. The project covered construction, equipment, furnishings, and the infrastructure needed to bring these spaces fully to life. The team in Menouf brought remarkable creativity and care to the work, building something unlike anything else in the region.
the impact
The outpatient unit opened first in early 2025, followed nine months later by the inpatient unit, which was full within days of opening. At full capacity, the two units will serve more than 20,000 children and families each year, providing a place where they feel welcomed, safe, loved, and cared for. In a community with little gospel witness, these units also offer something more: a daily demonstration of the love of Christ in action.
Healing Grove

THE STORY
When Afghan families began arriving in Sacramento after the U.S. withdrawal, they were in need of healthcare that met them where they were: culturally sensitive, language-specific, and genuinely compassionate. What began as doctors and volunteers entering homes, listening, and caring for immediate needs grew into something more organized. Healthbridge Global was invited in to help think strategically, and we advocated, raised funds, and deployed resources toward specialty care, community clinics, and equipment.
A rented facility was secured near the Afghan community and became a real home base for the work. An Afghan physician, someone our founder Jon had connected with years before any of this unfolded, stepped in as a critical cultural and medical bridge. That was not coincidence. It was provision.
The impact
God redeems all things. What started in the chaos of a crisis became part of a larger story of mercy and redemption. We cannot count every life touched, but we know it has been many. By God's grace, the seeds of two Afghan churches have been planted through this work. A grassroots effort to come alongside those in need took root and created a lasting impact.
Rise Together
Târgu Mureș, Romania

THE STORY
Rise Together was born out of Romania's long orphan crisis. Founded by Istvan and Alina Muntean in Târgu Mureș, the ministry provides trauma-informed care and therapy, discipleship, and practical support for children living in institutions and young adults aging out of the orphan care system. Istvan himself was raised inside that system. He knows what it costs and what it takes to heal. Alina is a trained psychotherapist specializing in childhood trauma.
Before this project, Rise Together's work took place in borrowed spaces and volunteers' homes, which limited who they could reach and made consistent, deep healing work nearly impossible. Healthbridge Global came alongside to help build a permanent home: a day center and transitional living facility where children could experience safety, stability, and genuine care. Fueled in part by two anchor partners who covered 25% of the needed funding at launch, the doors opened in July 2025.
The Impact
A permanent home has changed everything about the depth of relationship Rise Together can build with the children and young adults they serve. Life skills like conflict resolution, cooking, cleaning, finances, and independence are now taught in a space that models what a healthy home looks like. The goal is simple: prepare these young people to rise up, find work, live independently, and carry the love of Christ with them.
Ukraine Emergency Relief

THE STORY
Crisis response is not typically what we do, and we were honest with ourselves about that when Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022. Many organizations are better equipped for disaster relief. Yet we had something most of those organizations did not: trusted relationships already on the ground in the neighboring country of Romania, where millions of Ukrainian refugees were fleeing to. Within the first week, we were invited to help and we said yes.
Our response took four forms: medical care for refugees at the border; basic relief supplies including food, water, blankets, and winter clothing; telemedicine access in partnership with Telios for refugees, soldiers, and others still inside Ukraine; and equipment and supply support for small rural hospitals serving displaced populations as the crisis evolved.
The Impact
Two things stood out from this work. The first was neighbors caring for neighbors: Romanians and Ukrainians choosing to serve each other across a complicated shared history. The second was the church stepping forward to love and care for the displaced. For everyone watching, it was a living picture of what the church looks like when it lives out its calling.
